Old Post Proposed New Surf School

May 2012 update: Info supplied by Pete Craske of Surfs Up. Lanhdyrock Estate welcome Surf’s Up as the new tenant of the 29 acres of the foreshore of New Polzeath Beach owned by the Estate

The following is taken from MINUTES of the meeting of St.Minver Highlands Parish Council held at the Perceval Institute, St.Minver on Tuesday 13th March 2012

b)Mrs Jane Forster was concerned about the advertisement for the Surf School lease. Mrs Forster was advised that this relates to an existing lease not a new one.
Cllr Harris said that Lanhydrock owns round to Baby Bay. He has leased from them the right to walk across the beach. It was costing a few hundred pounds but has now gone up steeply, so he has not renewed the lease. Mrs Forster was concerned about safety issues, particularly with increased numbers in the water. Cllr Gisbourne reported that Cornwall Council`s Legal Department have been
looking at it but are unable to do anything. "Cornwall Council has no control as we do not own it. Legally, we cannot stop them."
