Old Post Polzeath Event this Saturday 18th February

As 2nd and 3rd year students of Architecture, we are working on a Polzeath-based design project until May this year called, 'Community Generator Unit for Polzeath.'

The Design Brief:
"The brief for the Design Project is a "Community Generator Unit" - a phrase for each student to interpret based on their research. The "Community Generator Unit" must be sited within Polzeath, responding to the particular issues of the sea-side village. Each student will be required to deal with a seasonal society or other type of community issue that changes over the year."
These are studio projects but we'd love to share our work with the local community who might take ideas away from the day. With recent changes to the planning law, for example, we hope our work might prove relevant for thinking about future developments in the community.

The theme of the meeting will be to engage with the local community [in its widest sense] and to exchange information and observations on how Polzeath works [or doesn't!] as a place which accommodates changing and seasonal communities.

The schedule for the day is:
All day:
the students will have some table space and wall space to hold an open-shop session for visitors to drop by throughout the day. They will present research on the community and encourage interaction through games that they have constructed, and images that they will display.
2.00 to 4.00 pm
For a couple of hours the hall will be used to hold a formal, seated debate, with invited speakers each allocated a brief time slot. We will chair/host the meeting to try and achieve a good balance of open debate and presentations.
