May 2012 update: The large bus and various camper vans have moved on, but the very friendly Mr Surfy (Steve) remains trading.
Although many visitors and residents are happy with the trading, there are two possible negative aspects to this:
- It may encourage other traders and campers etc, with the idea that there is no control of this area.
- If there are any complaints to the Parish Council or Highways Department about the trading or overnight camping, then it will have to result in the area being subject to parking restrictions. Please may everyone be quite clear about this.

This is a controversial issue in New Polzeath. We will post various aspects of the issue on this blog in the next few weeks.
You may be aware that there are very few free places to park along the Cornish Coast. Due to the abuse of this by traders and overnight campers, this may well come to an end in the future.
